Captains Welcome

As captain, it is with great pleasure that I welcome all players, members, supporters and referees to Lansdowne road. I am honoured to be captain of this club and I trust that you will enjoy your time spent here.

Mike Ruddock and Emmet Farrell continue as first team coaches and are ambitious as ever. Their knowledge and expertise continues to improve players on an individual basis, as well as the overall cohesion of the Senior squad. I would like to congratulate outgoing captain Ross McCarron on two fantastic years and I look forward to this season as we aim to emulate the fantastic achievements at both Senior and U21 level.

I wish the best of luck to several first team players who achieved great success with Lansdowne F.C. and have been duly rewarded with the opportunity to play at professional level. The Senior squad has seen some departures but has been reinforced with excellent talent in the form of new club members and graduates from the ever successful U21 squad. The U21’s managed by Declan Fassbender, Charlie Quinn and Colin Goode, and indeed several other Junior teams, provide the Senior squad with a stream of quality players that is so important to our clubs success. I look forward to being part of this club for the coming year and I wish each of our teams a successful and injury free season.

We owe sincere thanks to Director of Rugby Steve Rooney and first team managers Paddy Gore and Brian Corrigan for their selfless hard work every season. The club is grateful for the support of all our sponsors, especially Zurich, as they continue to promote the success of Lansdowne F.C. and to those who contribute to running our excellent facilities.

I believe Lansdowne’s success is driven by the passion and commitment of the individuals and families involved in our club, from youngsters starting out at minis to club president Mickey Quinn. It is encouraging to see underage teams and their families travelling across the country with us to play games, support the first team and provide post-match analysis in the bar afterwards!
