Presidents Welcome

It is a wonderful honour for me to be elected President of our Club following in the footsteps of so many great men over the past 140 years. 

At the time of writing the 1st XV have qualified for the knock out stages of the Leinster Senior League Cup and the All Ireland League is nearly upon us. I am delighted that Mike Ruddock will again coach the team with the assistance of Emmett Farrell who will be fine tuning the backs. Ross has been re-elected  Club Captain and Steve Rooney is continuing as Director of Senior Rugby. Our junior teams will also start their leagues soon as will our Under 21s. Our Mini and Youth section continues to thrive and will field in excess of 350 players every weekend. All in all it promises to be an exciting season.

Of course these are challenging times for Lansdowne and every other Club in the country. None of us can survive without the generous support of our sponsors. In Lansdowne we are privileged to have  Zurich as our main sponsors since the inception of the All Ireland League. We are also grateful to An Post, Heineken, O'Callaghan Hotels, Mazars, G4S, and Castle King Services. This support is vital to our Club and much appreciated.

Nor can any Club survive without volunteers and it is gratifying that so many you have offered your assistance.  Having more people involved brings a sense of ownership and is good for the general "esprit de corps" of Lansdowne. I am aware that not everybody has the time required but you can still help by referring business to the club. The facilities are second to none and ideal for your business meetings, Christmas parties etc.

Lastly, the games are about to begin and life returns to normal for many of us!! I am looking forward to meeting you all at matches and in the Club. Most importantly I hope all our players have a successful, enjoyable and injury free season.
