He joined Lansdowne in the 1986/’87 season and played in the centre initially and had an unbroken run with the First XV until the 1893/.94 seasons and won a Leinster Senior Cup medal in 1891.
He served as President of the Club in the season 1931/’32 which was in the midst of the Lansdowne Golden era both from the point of view of winning trophies (5 Leinster Senior cups in a row and 3 Bateman cups) and the provision of international players (Eugene Davy, Ned Lightfoot, Morgan Crowe, Ham Lambert, Aidan Baily, Jack Arigho).
