Jack Coffey's international career spanned from 1899 to 1910 during which he was capped on 19 occasions, a tremendous testimony to his talent and durability. He was captain of the Lansdowne team that won the Leinster Senior Cup in 1904, and had also been captain the previous season when Lansdowne won the cup, but he missed the final due to injury. He also won a cup medal in 1901. He then served as a Leinster and Ireland selector and was Honorary Secretary of Lansdowne for 21 years. He was President of the Club in 1923-24 and President of the IRFU in 1924-25.
