The Club Second XV under the magnificent and youthful William Wallace had a very satisfactory season finishing in second position in their league behind St Mary’s and in capturing the Metropolitan cup for the 12th time. It is always difficult to captain a second XV due to the demands higher up and the management and captain are to be commended for blending a fabulously enthusiastic bunch of players including Flipper Caldwell who kept supporters entertained in an inter active manner when play seemed to flag. The team had a good complement of players with senior AIL experience which added to their strength and many subbed for the 1stXV on a Saturday and started again next day for the 2ndXV.
Thanks to coaches Daniel O’Brien and manager Willie Aherne for their dedication and commitment throughout the season.
